Osu everyone!
We had our first exam of the year a few weeks ago. Congratulations to everyone! You all did a great job. Keep up the good work! Osu everyone!
The August schedule is now up and most of you are going or will be going back to school soon (if you haven't gone back already). Karate is always in session though! With that being said, Sensei Aaron recently challenged everyone to this assignment: "Think of/say 6 positive things before you think of a negative thing" For example, if your Mom or Dad tells you to do your chores, instead of grumbling, you could say "Thank you Mom for cooking breakfast. Thank you for washing my clothes. I love you Mom, etc." By the time you get to the sixth thing, your negative thought shouldn't matter - it should be forgotten. Not just for our younger students but our adult students too! Anyone can do this. It's a small change that can change the way you think day by day. You'll think more positively out of habit. Then you can share this with others and they can change their attitudes. This small change could even have an impact on the world. So think positively and live positively everyone! See you in class! OSU everyone!
The July schedule is now up! Just a reminder that there will be no class this weekend, so please enjoy your 4th of July holiday safely! We will see you all back in the dojo next week. Also, good luck to Senpai Ty and Carson who will be competing in the AAU Karate National Championships this week in Fort Lauderdale, Florida! We know you'll do your best and we look forward to hearing your experiences when you return to the dojo next week. There will be some updates and new media coming to the website soon, so stay tuned! OSU! TKO Hawaii Car Wash! When: Sunday, May 25, 2014 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM Rain or Shine Where: McCully Union 76 2105 S King St Next to McDonalds Bring down your dirty cars and help us send our Karate team to the AAU National Competition in Florida!!! Tell all your friends and family!
Osu everyone!
The March schedule is now up! We hope to see you all in class! Don't forget: March 8 there will be no class due to the Hirano tournament. Good luck to those of you who will be competing! Train hard until then and always do your best! For those of you interested in learning karate, it's never too late! We offer free trial lessons! Even if your child is shy, think of this: Sensei Aaron, as he always tells the class, was very shy growing up. And yet he was still able to train hard and become a World champion even at a young age! Don't let being shy stop you from learning something awesome that you can take with you no matter where you go! As you can see by our "Senpais weigh-in," karate is much more than learning how to punch, kick and do katas! See you all in Class! Osu! Osu everyone! I apologize for the lack of updates! We're still here, and have exciting things planned for the dojo this year! The February schedule is now up! We hope to see you all in class! Don't forget, you can always inquire about a free trial lesson with Sensei Aaron! Congratulations to the students who recently took their kyu (belt) exam and earned their next belt. Continue to work hard and "seek perfection of character" in and outside of the dojo! Good luck to those of you who plan to compete in the February 9 tournament! Here's a long overdue installment of "Senpais weigh in" featuring Carson Ikeda, who has trained with Sensei Aaron for many years. Osu!!!! Senpai's "weigh-in" ~ Carson Ikeda
Here at TKO Hawaii, we are very thankful for many things: Awesome students, awesome Sensei and the opportunity to learn the art of Shotokan karate! We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
This past month, we were very honored to have the AAU/USA Karate team train in our dojo the Friday prior to the All Hawaii State Karate tournament. A few students who were able to stay late were also able to train a little with the team. We were also visited by Sensei Linda Donner and our TKO Head Sensei, Sensei Mirza. TKO Hawaii had a number of students compete in the All Hawaii State Karate Championships: Brayden, Bryce, Carson, David and Kenzo! You all did very, very well and had a great learning experience! Team USA also did very well in the tournament on the 23rd! Congratulations everyone! The next Kyu (belt) exam is coming up in a few short weeks. Train hard everyone! The first thing to remember is to compete against yourself and improve yourself. Every one of us can be on the USA Karate team!!! See you all in class! December schedule is now up! OSU! Osu everyone! The October schedule is up! Congratulations also to all of our competitors who competed in the recent tournament! Our next entry of Senpai's Weigh-In is from Senpai Ty!

Good luck to all our competitors! Come by and watch if you have time! We will have mo We will be adding some blogs, comments, sayings or other words of wisdom from our Senpai, many of them are Black Belts who have trained in Karate for over a decade - some over two decades like Sensei Aaron.
